Dependable bloomer. Flower same as species; plant leaves are slightly darker green with cream/white stripes through centre and/or edges, variable hence the name ! Best in shade, with arching dark green glossy leaves to 70cm. If grown in full sun or poor soil, will grow more erect, up to 50cm, leaves becoming light green to nearly gold in colour, flower not as spectacular. Clumps well, soon forming a ground cover if left, with 2 - 5 pups per plant per year. Flowers appear late Autumn through to late winter. Flower-spike then darkens, remaining on plant and retaining the darker colour till mid-summer.Relatively hardy, standing light frosts.
Auction is for one pup, up to 20cm tall, taking 12-18 months to mature. Grow in free-draining soil, water sparingly until established, as with all Bromeliad pups.
